Naples Pier
In January, 1888, there was no pier. The Naples Company found and purchased the fastest steamship on the coast: Captain Merritt's "Fearless". This ship, which ran from Punta Gorda to Naples, entered through Gordon's Pass, up into the Bay of Naples, according to the Company's promotional brochure. However, in low tide, passengers had to be shuttled ashore by "lighters" out in the Gulf, which featured troublesome sandbars (and some rock'n'roll).

Thus, a construction contract was let to Captain James Canty in Ft. Myers in June, 1888, for a 600-foot T-shaped wharf in 18 feet deep water on the Gulf side, facing the hotel. Pilings and timbers were off-loaded in the surf and towed ashore...read the History of Naples Pier »

September 18, 2010 ~ NIFF & Naples Winemaking Wine Tasting/Bottling Event

An exciting evening of wine tasting paired with wine making, appetizers and intimate live performance by talented musicians Kim and Pete of Ready 2 Roll Music
Location: 1061 Collier Center Way - Naples, FL 34110
Cost: $49 per person (you must be 21 or older to attend) - Admission includes wine tasting and pairing with appetizers. Upon arrival, you will be greeted with a nibble and glass of wine. A tour of the winery will follow, including explanation of key steps in the wine making process. You'll enjoy a series of comparative barrel tastings and you can go hands on or be a spectator as NIFF bottles its first private label reserve.
